Halogen Lamp Phase out
Due to new EU Regulations, from 1st September 2018 shops and electrical suppliers will no longer be able to refresh their stocks of 230 – 240 V halogen bulbs and candle bulbs. Meaning that once their current stock has gone it will not be replaced. This phase out does not yet effect G4, G9 or R7 halogen bulbs. LEDs are a good alternative to halogen bulbs, while they are more expensive to buy in the short term, they will considerably reduce the amount of energy used and can last up to 10 times longer in comparison with halogen bulbs; saving you money in the long term.
If you currently use halogen bulbs in your fittings, which are part of the phase out, in most cases you will be able to replace them with the equivalent LED bulbs. However, some fittings (especially those connected to transformers) may require professional advice before switching.
